Join us for a screening of the 2006 comedy She's the Man, starring Amanda Bynes. This movie event is part of the Shakespeare Adaptations film series hosted by Prof. Erik Wade of the Department of English and Creative Writing. Each film adapts a classic Shakespeare play for a modern audience. Every screening will begin with a brief synopsis of the original play by Prof. Wade, followed by a screening of the movie, and then an opportunity for discussion afterward.
She's the Man is an adaptation of Shakespeare's classic comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will. Twelfth Night follows the shipwrecked Viola, who disguises herself as a man and enters the service of Duke Orsino, only to fall in love with him. She's the Man follows high-schooler Viola, who disguises herself as her brother and moves into his prep school, only to find herself falling for his roommate, Duke.
