About this Event
This is the first session in a series of four monthly workshops from The Always Human Research Group, led by Ari. As a participant, you are not only reconnecting your mind and body, grounding yourself, and invigorating your creativity, you are also helping Ari advance their somatic movement research.

For this small-group knowledge generation session, we will iterate and explore the relationship between our sense of smell, memory, and shared embodied knowledge.
We will investigate: How can you make the intangible tangible? How do we communicate complicated, often indescribable memories? What sensory experiences carry universal meaning? How do our sensory experiences from the past shape our perception of the future?
Ari will lead you through a series of building prompts. You will smell things, write things, make things, and move your body (No movement background is necessary.) After we make, we will converse freely and discuss our findings.
Email ari.elefterin [at] gmail.com if you need anything!
What to bring/wear: Ari will have writing materials and everything necessary for the workshop. Bring any additional drawing tools if you are called to anything specific! While we aren't dancing, wear something comfortable to sit/stand in.
Number of attendees: This event is capped at 8. If you think you may not be able to attend, do not sign-up. Please let Ari know asap if there are any issues.
Accessibility Note: We will be sitting on the ground for the majority of the time, and there will be clipboards for writing. Please let Ari know if you need a chair. The space is up a set of stairs and does not have an elevator. For future sessions, we will change locations if accessibility needs require it.
Documentation: You will be given releases for images so that Ari may include images in future research materials. If you do not wish to be included in that, you can let them know.
Arrival: You will be able to get in the space 10 mintues before, we will start right at 11 so we have time to document the work :)
