Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, this funny, feel-good show opens for 12 performances on The Sue Keenan Stage between January 16 and February 7. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
"Ripcord" is directed by John Vinopal and produced by Chris Fassett.
A pair of ladies share a room at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, much to the dismay of Abby, who has always fought for her own room. Her new roommate Marilyn is a big fan of bets and pranks, roping Abby into a bet to sort out their living situation.
"I chose this play for multiple reasons. Number one on the list is it made me laugh. The main characters, Abby and Marilyn, are both dealing with the challenges of Senior Living, and are approaching those challenges with vastly different attitudes." says Vinopal.
The cast includes Jolaine Orlin, Elizabeth Mora, Ryan Huetson, Jimmy O'Hara, Alyssa Mahoney, and Derek L. Cook.
Orlin, playing Abby in the production, hopes that in addition to the comedy, the audience “can also connect to the humanness of Abby and Marilyn, two older women who have been through a lot in their lives. Everyone will know them because we all carry our own internal struggles, regrets, longings, disappointments, hopes, and dreams. The play is beautifully written and gives us a slice of our own vulnerability and how it can be embraced if only we take the risk and jump.”
Members of the production crew include Jody Vogel (Assistant Director/Stage Manager), Chris Fassett (Producer & Set Designer), Steve Peterson (Set Construction), Dave Dolnics (Set Construction), Lisa Crank (Sound Design & Crew), Jim Van De Velde (Lighting Design), Karin Kramer (Lighting Crew), Suzanne Nyhan (Props), Breanna Wiskari (Publicity), Carl Zeitler (Social Media), Maggie Fredricks (Box Office), Kevin Taylor (House Manager), David Dowell (Photography), and Matt Hellyer (Graphic Design).

Vinopal also had this to say about the production:
“I am enjoying working with a talented ensemble of talented actors, all of which I am working with for the first time. There was an immediate connection between the members of the cast. So, despite the challenges, we have all pulled together to bring this story to life. Tickets are selling out fast which is very exciting since we have a special show to share. We are looking forward to opening night (January 16) and to seeing you all at VTG!”
