Join Dave Perkey, Jan Allyn, and other Pinellas Chapter members for a leisurely stroll to identify and appreciate native plants in a natural setting.This 80-acre nature preserve is owned by Hillsborough County and managed by its Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program (ELAPP). It has diverse habitats, that include hammock, scrub, creeks, ravines, shoreline and tidal marsh. There are boardwalks and Marked hiking trails include a 0.8-mile loop and a 1.3-mile loop. A scenic overlook with an observation platform on the Alafia River is a half-mile from the trailhead. We will There is limited parking available, so car pooling is encouraged.
THERE ARE NO RESTROOMS IN THE PRESERVE. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. There are several fast-food restaurants and a Wawa gas station less than a mile from the preserve entrance, at the intersection of Gibsonton Road and US Hwy. 301.
Recommended to bring: Reusable water bottle, sun and insect protection, camera/cell phone.
