About this Event
"More Peace, Less Force" Training with the Nonviolent Peaceforce
Grounded in the strengths and needs of local community partners, NP has built relationships with community members, leaders, and organizations in the Brainerd Lakes Area to identify gaps and approach physical and psychological safety and security from a holistic perspective. Communities know best how to protect themselves, and have the right to exercise protection in the way that best suits them.
Join us for a day of learning and practicing nonviolent strategies for conflict resolution. The Nonviolent Peaceforce will lead this in-person event where you can gain valuable skills in promoting peace and reducing the need for force. Whether you're a peace activist, educator, elected official, faith leader, election judge, seeking ways other than use of violence, or simply interested in making a positive impact, this training is for you. Come together with like-minded individuals and contribute to a more peaceful world!
About the Nonviolent Peaceforce
In every region and in every situation, with every partner and team member, our work is guided by the overarching values of nonviolence—the powerful moral force of social change—and independence, a neutral and non-judgmental perspective that helps us to bring people together within hostile environments without promoting the interests of particular groups of people or governments. At the heart of our work is a deep respect for pluriversality—that diverse and inclusive narratives and histories are welcome and authentic—which creates space for us to engage in radical connections within our partner communities by centering people and the commonalities of our humanity in our shared experience and interactions.
