"Memória, Natureza e Identidade" with Rita Silva

In this workshop, we propose a sensory journey that explores the timeline of life, using old photographs, botanical images, and other fragments to create unique and deeply personal compositions. Participants will be guided to explore memories and transformations through narratives that bridge the past, present, and future in an intuitive and therapeutic creative process.

Through a methodology of image exploration, in an exercise of free association, we will work on composition, layers, and transparencies; the dialogue between photography and botany; the use of negative space; and the integration of texts or handwriting.

Neste workshop propomos uma viagem sensível que explora a linha temporal da vida, utilizando fotografias antigas, imagens botânicas e outros fragmentos para criar composições únicas e profundamente pessoais. Os participantes serão guiados a explorar memórias e transformações em narrativas que cruzam passado, presente e futuro num processo criativo intuitivo e terapêutico.
Através de uma metodologia de exploração de imagens, num exercício de associação livre vamos trabalhar composição, camadas e transparências, diálogo entre fotografia e botânica, uso de espaço negativo e integração de textos ou escrita manual.

About Rita Silva

Rita M. Teodoro is a visual artist with a background in psychology. Her practice centers on analog collage as a field of inquiry into memory, imagination, and human relationships. Working primarily with old photographs and images that reflect the natural world, she creates compositions that exist somewhere between the archival and the fictional, exploring the construction of visual narratives of an intimate and symbolic nature. Her work is strongly influenced by a psychological sensibility, with a focus on the ways in which the image can function as a device for projection, association, and the recomposition of meaning. She has been creating collages for approximately two years and has participated in pop-up shops in gallery settings. Concurrently, she has experience facilitating workshops with children, where she uses images as a starting point for narrative and imaginative processes.

She lives and works in Lisbon.

Rita M. Teodoro é artista visual, com formação em Psicologia. A sua prática centra-se na colagem analógica enquanto campo de investigação sobre memória, imaginação e relações humanas. Trabalhando maioritariamente a partir de fotografias antigas e imagens que refletem o mundo natural, desenvolve composições que habitam entre o arquivo e a ficção, explorando a construção de narrativas visuais de carácter íntimo e simbólico. O seu trabalho é fortemente influenciado por uma sensibilidade psicológica interessando-se pelos modos como a imagem pode funcionar como dispositivo de projeção, associação e recomposição de sentido.
Desenvolve colagem há aproximadamente dois anos e participou em lojas pop-up em contexto de galeria. Paralelamente, tem experiência em facilitação de workshops com crianças, onde utiliza a imagem como ponto de partida para processos narrativos e imaginativos.
Vive e trabalha em Lisboa.

Collage Working Club (CWC) is a weekly open workspace for artists working in the medium of paper. Organised in the format of alternate ‘drop in’ sessions and workshops masterclasses, it has both a regular facilitator, whilst also involving the artist community in the sharing of knowledge and skills. Providing materials, education and connections is the primary aim of CWC, and it will do this through the interdisciplinary art of collage as both an art form and a tool for personal growth.

O Collage Working Club (CWC) é um espaço de trabalho semanal aberto a artistas que trabalham com o suporte papel. Organizado no formato de sessões alternadas e masterclasses, tem um facilitador regular, ao mesmo tempo que envolve a comunidade de artistas na partilha de conhecimentos e competências.Fornecer materiais, educação e ligações é o principal objetivo do CWC, e fá-lo-á através da interdisciplinaridade da colagem como uma forma de arte e uma ferramenta para o crescimento pessoal.
