Whether you're looking to sharpen your card strategies, practice open-hand combinations, or simply enjoy casual games under the open skies, Mahj on D brings our signature social play directly to the South Boston lawn. This gathering is suitable for ALL LEVELS.
What to Expect
- Guided Social Play: 2 hours of instructional and open table rotations, tactical passing practice, and friendly casual play.
- All Equipment Provided: We bring the tables, padded mats, tile sets, pushers, and current rule cards—just bring your game face!
- Refreshments & Vibe: Access to Lawn on D's signature lawn games, concessions, craft cocktails, and food trucks throughout the afternoon.
- Curated Swag & Giveaways: Curated Swag & Giveaways: Every one has a chance to fun giveaways plus entry into our end-of-day raffle drawing!
- Beginners Welcome! Our goal is connection. Our "Learn to Play" table ensures no prior experience is needed to participate and have fun.
Ticket Options:
To accommodate different levels of expertise, we are offering two distinct ticket types:
$35 – "Open Play" Ticket: For experienced players who want to jump right in. Your ticket includes light bites.
$50 – "Learn to Play" Ticket: For beginners who are completely new to the game. Your ticket includes an introduction to the rules and a dedicated table to learn the ropes, plus light bites.
Important Details
- Skill Level: Ideal for players who know the basics of American Mahjong (rules, card reading, Charleston phase) up to advanced players. (Note: This is a social play event, not a 101 beginner teaching workshop).
- Weather Policy: Lawn on D is an outdoor venue. In the event of severe rain, we will notify attendees 24 hours in advance with a rain date or indoor venue alternative.
- Parking & Transit: Convenient pay-lot parking is available on-site, or take the MBTA Silver Line (SL4/SL5) directly to World Trade Center Station.
- Bring your 2026 card! We will have afew cards to borrow and purchase.
