About this Event
Class Description
Harness the power of lasers to cut or engrave nearly anything you can draw on a computer into wood, acrylic, and more. Learn how to safely operate our Black Cat Labs 90W laser cutters. Students will be introduced to safe materials and cutting practices to operate independently in the laser shop. Students will learn Light Burn, the software to send graphics to the laser cutter. This class does not cover designing your own graphics. Look for our design for laser cutting classes.
The materials fee for this class is $5. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Cash.

Learning Objectives
- Students will be able to safely, independently operate the Black Cat Labs Laser Cutters.
- Identify safe materials and determine laser settings.
Instructor - Kevin Naber
Kevin has 3 years experience with the Black Cat Lasers and is a lifelong tinkerer. He enjoys making both functional and decorative designs using the laser’s wide variety of settings and software tools. He also finds satisfaction in helping others make their designs reality in a safe and efficient manner.
Target Audience
Stusendts with aome familiarity with any computer drawing software will be helpful, but beginners welcome! Students must be 16 years old or older. All students under 18 must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.
Your Ticket Includes
- Plywood will be for sample cuts.
- Access to A2's Digital Fabrication & Laser Shop and tools for the duration of the session.
