"Love Rocks!" Rock Painting, Cacao + Spread Kindness in Prospect Park
About this Event
We will come together in Prospect Park to express our creativity, make friends and spread kindness through the joy of rock painting and ceremonial cacao. No experience necessary - come as you are! ❤️
Meeting Place:
We will meet at the Wellhouse in Prospect Park: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Wellhouse/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xea721f8f25d45234?sa=X&ved=1t:2428&ictx=111 where, depending on the amount of people and park conditions, we will either paint at the picnic table in the nearby green space, or I will lead us on a 5 minute walk to a shaded grassy area where we can paint on blankets on the ground.
I will be providing the following supplies:
- 2-3 lightweight picnic blankets
- Rocks for painting
- Acrylic paint pens for the group to share
- Cardboard squares to paint + dry our rocks
- 1 large thermos of ceremonial cacao
- Eco-friendly paper cups
- Baby wipes for our hands
- Basic vegan snacks
- A gallon of water to refill our bottles
- Icebreaker questions for chit-chat! :)
Please bring your own water bottle and anything else you'd like (food, blanket, etc) to make yourself more comfortable!
A rough schedule of events include:
- 11am: Meeting in front of the Wellhouse (I will be there by 10:45am to meet anyone coming early!)
- 11:15: Walking and setting up our space
- 11:45: Introduction to cacao and kindness rocks
- 12pm: Paint rocks, sip cacao, have snacks and get to know each other!
- 1:30: Attach our "kindness/love note(s)" to our dried rock(s)
- 1:45: Goodbyes and dispersing to place our kindness rocks around the park (don't worry, you will also make ones to keep!). We may do this in pairs, groups or solo!
Notes:
This is an outdoor event and will be moved if it's expected to rain during the event.
This event is not a workshop and is more like an activity meetup. I am not an expert rock painter - I just want to do something fun + kind with other fun + kind people.
About the rock painting:
Inspired by the Abundant Love Project and Kindness Rocks projects, we will use paint pens to color and design our rocks and include positive messaging on the back such as "You are Loved" or "You Got This!" to leave around the park with a loving attached note for people to find. The philosphy is that whoever truly needs it will find your rock. We will also each craft 1-2 rocks to bring home with us!
About cacao:
In the ancient Mayan tradition, cacao (or chocolate in its purest form) is revered as a sacred plant medicine and ceremonial drink used to foster connection, gratitude, and communion with the heart. Many people describe ceremonial cacao as "heart-opening" as it promotes feelings of warmth, emotional presence, and connection. From a scientific perspective, cacao contains compounds such as theobromine, flavonoids, and phenylethylamine, which support the heart, circulation, mood, and a gentle sense of well-being.
