Howdy y'all! I'm psyched to host this new event, the first Saturday of every month. We had the first one last month - in "stealth mode", to shake out the kinks - and it went great.

who: fans of old-school rock ’n roll, country, blues
what: “open stage”, sit in with the house band. byo instrument, or use one of ours. vocals welcome! traditional / simple(ish) chord progressions.
when: first Saturday of every month, 1 to 3pm
where: Hi-Fidelity, 200 Anderson St, Portland ME (behind the graffiti shipping containers)
why: rock ’n roll = good times
This is a "structured jam" - each song is based on a chord progression and has a beginning, middle, and end. There will be opportunities to solo and improvise, but there won't be any 15 minute "jazz odysseys".
The traditional music lends itself to both beginners and experts - stick to basic rhythm, or flash your chops.
You can suggest a song, but remember it needs to be simple enough the band can "learn it while they're playing". Some 3-chord songs are too complicated (example: "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC), some 5-chord songs are not ("Kick Out The Jams" by the MC5).
