"I Smell a Rat:" The U.S. Constitutional Convention

In 1787, it was clear to many that the American government was a failure- unrest,

weakness, debt, and a lack of policy combined to render the central government

powerless, which was to be mended by the Constitutional Convention. Yet there were

many who preferred the US government as it was. This presentation examines the

Constitutional Convention, its considerable innovations in popular government, and the opposition to it, which is still surprisingly potent today.
