"A truly immersive experience." Premier Christianity Magazine
St. Paul's Rusthall is delighted to bring you this production fresh from sold out shows at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Stefan Smart’s I AM MARK is an inspirational concept: a wonderful solo dramatisation of St Mark’s Gospel, that really brings the gospel alive. Stefan gives the audience a unique opportunity to experience the incredible story, in a similar dynamic way to the first century witnesses. I AM MARK is the Gospel told, without comment or commentary.
After the performance there will be a Q and A session where Stefan will invite the audience to ask him anything about the show.
This is not a production you will want to miss.
The lion has represented kingship since time immemorial due to its strength and ferocity, its fearlessness and majesty. St. Mark's gospel is portrayed by this beast because the account emphasizes the Kingship and power of Jesus. Think of the lions in Trafalgar Square and the 3 lions on the Royal Standard.
Action-packed with no less than 19 miracles, the book of Mark was written to be shared live with first century audiences, in one sitting. Aimed at those outside the Jewish faith, the book of Mark has the potential to capture 21st century hearts and minds like no other story.
In this dynamic new, word-for-word, solo performance, directed by Lisa Gilmour, Stefan Smart brings us the story as it was originally narrated. I AM MARK is the resulting full-bodied drama, with its characters and nuances brought startlingly to life.
Because it’s so accessible and involving, I AM MARK has the added advantage of being a great conversation opener.
So sit back, relax, and imagine yourself among Mark’s first audience, as you experience the Good News of Jesus ‘as it was in the beginning’, in all its urgency and power, challenge and comfort.
