"Held & Healing" A Screening Dedicated to Reentry Month
About this Event
Mothers and mother figures are often the soul of what holds our family systems as well as our communities together. So what happens when these vital figures are separated from these spaces or rendered virtually incapable of meeting the needs of this role within the community? Held & Healing aims to explore this through one woman’s story. Join us for a powerful discussion on what it means to find restoration within the relationships once fractured and the larger impact that this sort of restoration can have on a wider community. Following the film, join Kristie Puckett, star of the documentary, for an intimate conversation about her powerful testimony.
About the Film:
Held & Healing is a gripping, truth-telling documentary that chronicles the extraordinary life of Kristie Puckett, a mother, survivor, and strategist whose journey moves from intimate partner violence and crack addiction to incarceration while pregnant, and ultimately to recovery, leadership, and policy change. Held & Healing becomes a guide for what real public safety looks like: culturally responsive care, family preservation, and change rooted in the leadership of those most impacted.
