"Health in Action: Social Work Student Simulation 2025"

1.30 - Students will meet on level 8 at TWH in the auditorium

1.45-2.15 Social workers who have offered to do a tour, will meet in the auditorium at 1.45pm and will take a small group of students on a hospital tour. This might include going to your ward/s or choosing a few different wards or sections of the hospital that you might visit oncall etc. Staff will show students things such as the set up of the ward, nurses station, family room, how documentation is done etc.

2.15-2.30 Students will gather back at the auditorium along with those staff who have volunteered to do the simulation. UOW tutors will brief everyone on the simulation and how it will be conducted. Students will be moved to sections of the auditorium, foyer, meeting rooms to conduct their simulations.

2.30-4.30 Simulations will run in small groups of approximately 4 students and will involve students role playing different components of a patients journey from the community into the ED, ward and then discharge home. The staff members will be playing the role of the client and will provide feedback to the students along with opportunities to develop their skills at the end of each stage. Staff will also support the running of the simulations for their group.

4.30-5.00 Large group debrief about the experience which will be run by the UOW tutors.
