About this Event

Celebrate with Mike Maimone, on tour for the release of his 15th album and 1st book, both called Guess What? I Love You.

The companion pieces are a tribute to his late husband Howard Bragman, who championed the LGBTQ+ community by helping celebrities navigate their coming out journeys, and was a beloved Hollywood luminary appearing on shows from RuPaul's Drag Race to Good Morning America.

Maimone's piano-based music is often compared to Randy Newman, Leon Russell, Tom Waits, and Dr. John. With over 200 published songs, he has been heard on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, movie and TV soundtracks, on the radio, and he has performed at major festivals and iconic venues across the country and internationally, toured with bands including Blues Traveler, Plain White T's and OK Go, and shared the stage with the legendary Stevie Wonder.

This show features Mike performing songs from his new album on solo piano. Guiding the audience on an emotional journey, he will also read short selections from his book, which received a Kirkus recommendation, an endorsement from Don Lemon, and Los Angeles Magazine called it "a moving account of love, loss and the radical act of staying open to possibility.”

Doors open at 6, show starts at 7 and runs about 75 minutes.

Mike Maimone is a songwriter, pianist, producer and author whose work spans indie rock, piano-driven pop, and deeply personal storytelling. Known for his expressive piano playing and emotionally direct songwriting, Maimone’s music balances melodic craft with lyrical honesty.

Originally from Ashtabula, Ohio and now living in Laguna Beach, California (with stops in Chicago, Nashville, LA, and Portland in between), his music and life story are defined by resilience, passion, and authenticity.

Mike has averaged over 100 tour dates/year since 2005 as a solo artist, with his trio Mutts, and as a session keyboardist, performing on late night shows, at major festivals, and storied music venues.

He is now on tour celebrating the release of "Guess What? I Love You," an album and book companion piece in tribute to his late husband, LGBTQ+ advocate and famed Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman.

PRESS:

“Maimone brings a little queerness to traditionally straight blues-based genres.”

Jenn White, NPR

“The man has the keyboard style of Fats Waller and Jerry Lee Lewis combined, and a vocal style that clearly recalls Tom Waits and Warren Zevon.”

Windy City Times

"A memoir that speaks true to the overwhelming grief of a cherished time cut short, and to the joy of a richly remembered relationship."
Kirkus Reviews Verdict:Get it.

"I knew Howard Bragman as an advocate for truth—someone who believed that living authentically wasn't a sound bite, but a responsibility. He helped me and others tell our stories, often before the world was ready to listen.
In Guess What? I Love You, Mike Maimone carries his husband's legacy forward with grace, courage, and heart. Mike writes with vulnerability and clarity, refusing easy answers or tidy endings. What he offers instead is something more powerful: permission to feel, to love openly, to grieve honestly, and to keep choosing truth even when it's difficult."
DON LEMON, award-winning journalist and bestselling author

"The most honest book I've read all year... I loved this book."
ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI, host of the Open Book podcast

"An honest, moving account of love, loss and the radical act of staying open to possibility."
Los Angeles Magazine

"Structuring his memoir of love and loss as a magnificent mixtape... Maimone invites readers into an intimate narrative that blends head-over-heels giddiness with deep devotion."
BookLife Reviews, a division of Publishers Weekly

"Maimone's beautifully written, deeply moving memoir will stir the soul of anyone who reads it. The heart of this book is the very moving private relationship of two men whose lives come together through the magic of love, in an extraordinary way that neither one thought was possible, showing us all that love can last a lifetime - even through death."
THOMAS MAIER, New York Times bestselling author

"Well done."

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, Award-winning journalist and TV anchor

"Utilizing slices of charm and entertainment, this beautifully crafted piece demonstrates that love, in its purest form, lives beyond time and space."
