Join FBX Poker School (552 3rd Ave downtown Fairbanks) for a FREE Military Appreciation Poker Night. All military - active and retired - are eligible for free poker lessons at 7pm (must RSVP), free turbo tournament (no RSVP necessary), and the first three brand new (never played) military persons to play the tournament and stay for the social game get $50 in chips to practice. AND, first military person to get pocket kings, gets a $50 bonus!All ages welcome. Beginner players or 1st time players should come at 7pm for Poker 101 ($10 lesson for non-military, must RSVP by text to 252-508-9114). Regular or advanced players who don't need beginner lessons should come at 8pm.

Practice lessons or social game will be available after the 8pm free game. Unlawful gambling is not allowed. Social games are legal in Alaska. Illegal gambling occurs when the casino or house takes a "rake", which is a percentage of the pot. By raking the game, the casino or house profits from the betting and it is unlawful gambling. Casino's might take 5% of the amount players wager each hand, for example. This fee is the cost the casino charges to run the game. FBX Poker School does not charge participants to play poker or to run the game. Anything of value players stake in the game is lawful if it is between the players (social game); such lawful gambling is of no consequence (or profit) to the Poker School. FBX Poker School charges a fee for live lessons regardless of whether something of value is used in the game or not.
