A screening of the PBS documentary, "FAT BOY: The Billy Stewart Story," will be held in the upstairs meeting room of the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield. Stewart, a nationally acclaimed R&B musician, and three of his band members died in an automobile accident near Smithfield in 1970.
Documentary producer Beverly Lindsay-Johnson will be joined by Stewart's cousin Dane Riley and former band member Charles Stafford to discuss Stewart's legacy and answer questions from the audience.
This program is co-sponsored by the Black History Committee of the Johnston County Heritage Commission and the Johnston County Arts Council.
