Nuestra exhibición temporal ¡Oaxaca Ingobernable! Estética, política y arte desde abajo en el Museo Maxwell de Antropología está por terminar a finales de marzo 2025. Fue co-producida por Gustavo García y Natalia M. Toscano, Candidatos a Doctorado en el Deparment Chicana/o Studies de la University of New Mexico.

Como parte de la programación cultural, el Maxwell Museum of Anthropology está orgulloso de ofrecer este taller especial, en español, para estudiantes y el público en general.

CAMINOS HACIA LA EDUACION: REFLEXIONES DESDE LA COMUNIDAD OAXAQUEÑA

El taller será lidiado por Lizbeth Sánchez García, estudiante de doctorado en el Department of Language, Literacy & Sociocultural Studies, de la University of New Mexico. El enfoque del taller será la intersección entre la educación y la “comunalidad”, concepto acuñado por antropólogos indigenas oaxaqueños que se refiere a la organización sociopolítica de una comunidad, y a los valores y capacidades que comparten sus miembros. Se verán lecturas claves, se abrirá un dialogo colectivo y se servirá cafecito y tentempiés.

La exhibición Oaxaca Ingobernable y este evento están generosamente financiados por el UNM Department of Chicana/o Studies, El Centro de la Raza, Center for Regional Studies, the Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies, and the Latin American & Iberian Institute.

CONOCE A LIZBETH SÁNCHEZ GARCÍA


Mujer ñaa savi (mixteca) nacida en la comunidad de San Andrés Montaña, Silacoyoapam, Oaxaca, México. Habla el to'on tavi/mixteco, el idioma de su comunidad. Ella empezó su viaje educativo en Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, donde completó sus estudios secundarios. Cómo la primera en su familia en continuar con su educación a nivel profesional, tuvo que emigrar a la Ciudad de México y estudió en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), una de las mejores instituciones de Latinoámerica. Allí recibió su licenciatura en Psicología. Después, continuó con y recibió su maestría en Psicología Educativa, también en la UNAM.

Del 2012-14, la Srta. Sánchez García empezó a hacer su trabajo en comunidad con migrantes indígenas en la Ciudad de México. En el 2014, ella regresó a Oaxaca para involucrarze en proyectos comunitarios. Llevá mas de diez años trabajando en tequios para construir espacios educativos y comunitarios para la revitalización del idioma mixteco, la identidad, la autonomía comunitaria y la soberanía.

Es miembro del Colectivo "Ndiikanu´u Tu'un Tza´á" (Palabras que Florecen) en Huajuapan de León, y miembro del Colectivo Iranu: "Red de Mujeres Indígenas de la Ciudad de México: Construyendo Comunidad". En su campo profesional, ella ha trabajado como maestra trilingüe, tallerista, tutora psicopedagógica, investigadora y desarrolladora de proyectos comunitarios. Actualmente, es estudiante del departamento ya mencionado y maestra en el Department of Spanish & Portugues de la UNM.

Lizbeth Sánchez García is a Ñaa Savi (Mixteca woman) born in the community of San Andrés Montaña, Silacayoapam, Oaxaca, Mexico. She speaks To’on Tavi/Mixteco language from her community. She started her educational journey at Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, where she completed her secondary education studies. As the first in her family to continue with higher education, she had to migrate to Mexico City and studied at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Then, she continued with her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology, also from UNAM.

From 2012-2014, she started her community work with Indigenous migrants in Mexico City. In 2014, Lizbeth returned to Oaxaca to get involved in community projects. ​​She has been working for more than 10 years in tequios (collective work for the common good) to build educational and community spaces for the revitalization of Mixteco language, identity, community autonomy, and sovereignty.

She is a member of the collective “Ndiikanu’u Tu’un Tza’á” (Words that Flourish) in Huajuapan de León, and a member of the Iranu collective: “Network of Indigenous Women of Mexico City: Building Community.” In her professional field, she has worked as a bilingual teacher, workshop facilitator, psychopedagogical tutor, researcher, and developer of community projects. Currently, she is a PhD student in the Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies Program and a teacher in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, both at University of New Mexico (UNM).
