The path to nuclear disarmament can start in our own backyard. With the world's renewed nuclear arms capabilities, Thomas' memoir could not be more salient.
Thomas spent 25 years investigating radioactive pollution from the production and testing of nuclear weapons, mostly focused on the Hanford Site in south-central Washington State. Throughout time, Thomas advocated for the downwinders, people exposed to harmful radiation releases. He organized a national coalition that forced the federal government to close Hanford’s plutonium operations in 1990, served on several federal advisory committees concerning radiation health effects, and worked for 10 years as a paralegal for the plaintiffs in the Hanford downwinders litigation.
This event is at Gonzaga University's Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Latah Books will be on hand with copies of the book for purchase, which releases July 16. Please join us for this conversation with Spokesman-Review reporter, Nick Gibson.
