The concert will feature performances by the Orchestra at Maryville, conducted by Ace Edewards; the Community Chorus, under the direction of Dwight Dockery; and the Maryville College Concert Choir, Off Kilter, and Lassies, led by Stacey Murphy Wilner, Director of Choral Activities. Jenny Anderson will conduct the Lads, rounding out a talented lineup of vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Alongside seasonal favorites like “Sleigh Ride,” “Greensleeves,” and “I Saw Three Ships,” the program includes two larger works, Christmas Day by Gustav Holst and Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Special guest soloist K.C. Armstrong, known for his performances with The Aspen Festival Orchestra, The Cincinnati Pops, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and The National Symphony Orchestra, will join for the Fantasia performance.
“A Victorian Christmas concert is truly a special experience,” says Wilner. “The music captures the spirit of the holiday season with its historic roots, featuring classic carols, hymns, and melodies that embody themes of family, community, and joy. We hope the concert provides our audience with a heartwarming and memorable start to the holiday season.”
Tickets are available to the public, with general admission priced at $20, seniors (60+) at $15, and discounted rates for students. Proceeds from the concert support the Maryville College choral program.
