Join us this Halloween for a spooky afternoon as our friend and outstanding local actor Scott Cox presents a selection of short stories and poetry by the Master of the Macabre, Edgar Allan Poe. Long regarded as the originator of the horror story, the inspiration for the modern detective novel, and the architect of the short story, Poe's vivid imagery, haunting prose, and bizarre mind still shock, titillate, and delight readers to this day. As you enjoy the warmth of a delicious glass of hot spiced wine or a cocktail or drink of your choice, and the ambiance of the winery's outdoor bistro-like setting, let Poe's words send a chill down your spine. There will be favorites like "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart" but also a few lesser-known works to surprise, entertain, and unsettle you.
Our kitchen will be open for this event.
NOTE: Food orders to the kitchen must be placed no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. Please plan to arrive early enough to make your wine and food selections. We will also have cheese, sausages, and crackers available for purchase for you to make a tray. You are also welcome to bring our own picnic.
NOTE: This event will take place at the Winery and will be outside under the Pavilion and on the lawn. If it's chilly, we'll have the heaters on under the Pavilion but be sure to wear warm clothes and bring a blanket.
Tickets are $19.99/person; $17.99 for Wine Club Members; and must be purchased in advance. Wine Club Members, to get your tickets and discount, please call the Winery at 816-579-9797 during business hours.
Tickets are nonrefundable but can be transferred to someone else. Tickets will not be shipped.
