Anderson Ranch Dam and Smith Prairie Driving Tour

Join us for a driving tour of some of the most spectacular scenery and geology in our area. We'll make a loop across the Anderson Ranch Dam, down the South Fork of the Boise River, and up onto Smith Prairie. You’ll see granite, basalt, rhyolite, and gneiss, and learn some interesting history of the dam and its builders. Meetup is at 8:45 AM in the Albertson’s Shopping Center parking lot near McDonald's Restaurant, 6574 S Federal Way for a 9 AM departure. Look for Steve's red F150 pickup truck. Suitable for all vehicles on a good dirt road. Trip is limited to 10 vehicles so we will arrange carpools before departure. First rest stop is Pilot Travel Center at exit at Mountain Home. Bring lunch and water, dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Periodic restroom stops along the route. Expect return to Boise by between 4-4:30 PM.

Nonmembers of the Museum $20 plus Eventbrite fee, Museum members and children free. Registration is required. Watch your email a few days before for email handouts, and in case the trip is canceled. Full refund if the Museum cancels the trip.

Steve Schaps and Barb Beatty will join the trip to take attendance, organize carpooling and answer general questions about the Museum. Look for Steve’s red F150 pickup truck at the meetup spot.
