About this Event
Join us for an engaging introductory lecture series on the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine that originated in India over 5,000 years ago.
The term Ayurveda derives from the Sanskrit words Ayu (“life”) and Veda (“knowing”). In the words of Dr. Vasant Lad, this age-old discipline is a “simple, practical science of life whose principles are universally applicable to each individual’s daily existence.”
This is a four part course. The first workshop will cover foundational knowledge of Ayurveda, including its history and philosophy. The subsequent workshops will broach the three distinctive humors, or tridosha, present in the human body: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
The way these humors manifest in the body governs all biological and psychological functions of the mind, body, and consciousness. Knowing what “dosha” predominates in your body can guide your decisions in diet, exercise, healing modalities, and more. A self-assessment will be taken during the first class to help determine the makeup of your tridosha.
Tickets are sold separately, and attendees are welcome to attend any - or all! - of the lectures.
