Anatomy and Treatment of Sacroiliac Pain
CE course Walla Walla, WA Sunday, November 8, 2026.
8 Hands on hours, $200 +tax. 9am-6pm
Anatomy and Treatment of the Sacroiliac Joint
Low back pain is one of the most common complaints encountered in massage therapy, and dysfunction involving the sacroiliac (SI) joint can be an important contributor.
In this hands-on course, we’ll explore the anatomy and biomechanics of the SI joint and its relationship to low back pain. You’ll develop practical skills for locating and accurately palpating the bony landmarks and soft-tissue structures involved in assessing and treating the lumbopelvic region.
Participants will learn orthopedic assessment techniques to help determine whether SI joint involvement may be contributing to a client’s low back pain, and will practice massage therapy techniques designed to address the muscles and soft tissues associated with SI dysfunction.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the anatomy of the sacroiliac (SI) joint and its contribution to low back pain.
• Accurately palpate the bony landmarks and soft-tissue structures necessary for assessment and treatment of the low back and pelvic region.
• Perform orthopedic tests to help determine whether SI joint involvement may be contributing to low back pain.
• Apply appropriate supine, prone, and side lying massage therapy techniques to address SI-related dysfunction and alleviate associated pain and discomfort.
