Johan Sebastian Bach's Six Cello Suites are among the most impressive pieces ever written for this string instrument. The intellectual and architectural elements continue to have a contemporary appeal, with their rhythmic vitality and melodic intricacy. “It is like a great diamond, with so many different cuts that reflect light in so many different ways.” Says renowned cellist Mischa Maisky about the suites. Each suite has its own character. Anastasia Kobekina, who has made a name for herself in recent years with her seasoned playing, performs numbers 3 and 5: one suite in C major, confident in tone, the other dark and profound in C minor. Sept Papillons, a series of miniatures by Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, in turn acts as a musical kaleidoscope. In an extremely poetic way, Saariaho exposes a whole range of new sound colours.

Les Six suites pour violoncelle de Johann Sebastian Bach comptent parmi les plus impressionnantes jamais écrites pour cet instrument à cordes. Leur structure intellectuelle et architecturale, leur vitalité rythmique et la trame des mélodies continuent de nous toucher aujourd'hui. "C’est comme un immense diamant aux inombrables facettes, reflétant la lumière de manière infiniment variée." Ainsi parlait le célèbre violoncelliste Mischa Maisky à propos de ces oeuvres. Chaque suite a son propre caractère. Anastasia Kobekina, qui s'est fait un nom ces dernières années avec son jeu émouvant, interprète les numéros 3 et 5 : l'une en do majeur, d’un ton sûr, l'autre sombre et profonde en do mineur. Sept Papillons, une série de miniatures de la compositrice finlandaise Kaija Saariaho, agit quant à elle comme un kaléidoscope musical. D'une manière extrêmement poétique, Saariaho révèle toute une gamme de nouvelles couleurs sonores.
