An Introduction to Plain Hunt at Braintree

About the course:

This one-day hands-on ringing session is an introduction to Plain Hunting - the start of change ringing. You will learn the theory of Plain Hunt then have a go - starting on small numbers of bells and working up to high numbers of bells as your confidence grows.

Students should be able to ring a bell independently and keep your place in rounds. You should also be able to move your bell within a row - ringing quickly or slowly to swap places with others as you would in call changes or Kaleidoscope Ringing. If you are following the ART ‘Learning the Ropes’ Scheme, you will have passed levels 1 and 2 before attending this course.

The day will be run by Sarah and Nick Holland, and you will be supported by a team of experienced ringers.

Whether you're a Plain Hunt beginner or just want a refresher, come learn on a fun and relaxed day.

There is car parking available nearby in George Yard (CM7 1RB). Please note there is a two hour parking limit at the nearby Tesco car park, so this wouldn’t be suitable.

Please bring a packed lunch. If you would prefer to buy lunch on the day there is a variety of shops and cafes within walking distance including a large Tesco.

Please be aware that the he ringing chamber is accessed by a number of metal steps.

You will be ringing on a bell simulator on the day.
