An Introduction to ADHD.

Gain a deeper understanding of ADHD through this engaging, evidence-based training designed specifically for parent carers. Moving beyond myths and misconceptions, this course explores the neuroscience behind ADHD, helping you understand how the ADHD brain develops and functions.

Together, we'll unpack the role of executive functioning and how challenges with attention, working memory, emotional regulation, organisation, impulse control, and task initiation impact everyday life. You'll also learn about sensory processing and sensory needs, recognising how sensory differences influence behaviour, emotions, learning, and wellbeing.

The training also covers topics such as masking, emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, motivation, sleep, anxiety, co-occurring conditions, and the importance of creating supportive, neuro-affirming environments at home and beyond.

Packed with practical strategies, real-life examples, and opportunities for reflection, this session will empower you to better understand your child, reduce conflict, build stronger relationships, and confidently advocate for their needs. This is a free training event for parent carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities within North Somerset. This event is also open to professionals who work with children/young people with additional needs and/or disabilities in North Somerset. Priority on place allocation will be given based on the criteria above.
