About this Event

D.C.-based author Norman Kelley describes the Structure of Music Exploitation (S.O.M.E.). Also known as "the structure of stealing," Kelley's presentation will examine the various methods used to extract wealth from black talent and music. Real world topical examples include: Blind "Tom" Wiggins, Black Swan Records, Motown, Action Intellectuals vs. Soul Power, The "Harvard Report" vs. The NAACP's "Discordant Sound of Music," and more. Join us for a thought-provoking presentation.
