About this Event
Though you might call them Folk or Americana, Tipps and Obermiller are not genre-specific songwriters. Just as they write about every aspect of life and living, they use every style of music to suit the song at hand. In doing so, they take the listener on a ride that will just as easily make you laugh and cry as shake your tail feather!
Their 2023 debut album, “Love (and other mysteries)” is a collection of songs written individually and worked up and played over the years at various musical gatherings, mixed with three of their first co-writes. It contains a mixture of styles: some deep in emotion and textures, some straight up movers and shakers. Recorded in three days with Fort Worth stalwarts Trey Ware (drums), Aden Bubeck (bass), and Matt Tedder (guitar), the album takes you on a ride from start to finish.
“MacGuffin,” their 2024 release is more pared back than “Love.” Working this time almost exclusively with only Trey Ware and Aden Bubeck, it opens up space for the songs to breathe, their intertwining voices to be heard, and the stories to be told. The deep introspection of “Fort Worth” and “Walt Whitman”; the crushing sadness of “Interrupting Tumbleweeds”; the exploration of inter-relational fears in “Wait”; the soul-hugging inspirational “Welcome to the Choir”; and the absolute silliness of “Intro Song,”. Tipps and Obermiller once again prove that they can engage the listener on many emotional levels.
Whether performing in intimate listening rooms or on festival stages, they bring a connection of energy and charm unique to a couple dedicated to each other, their music and their audience.

A little about Tim Grimm:
Tim Grimm is a bit of a Renaissance man in the performing arts world, forging a rich and varied career that blends his love of songwriting, travel, and acting in theatre, film and television. For most of his 25-year career as a storytelling balladeer in the tradition of John Prine, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan, Tim has written primarily about community, history, family, and social issues - often framed by his strong sense of place and the many years he spent on the family farm he built in rural Indiana. His songs are filled with rural characters and landscapes, written and sung with vivid warmth and intimacy.
