The Wilkins Sisters—Tangela Longstreet, Joyce Jones, and Tawana Cunningham—are a Memphis-based trio blending gospel, blues, and R&B to create soulful, uplifting music. Daughters of the late Rev. John Wilkins and Betty Maxwell Wilkins, they began as church singers and often opened for their father at services and events. Tangela, the group's leader, has led her own band, Tan and The Violinettes, for over 25 years.
The sisters reunited a decade ago to accompany their father on his debut album, You Can’t Hurry God (Fat Possum's Big Legal Mess), and toured globally with him as "3D" (3 Daughters) for over 10 years. They were prominently featured on Rev. Wilkins' second album, Trouble (Goner Records), recorded at Royal Studios. After Rev. Wilkins' passing, Tangela, Joyce, and Tawana came together as The Wilkins Sisters to honor his legacy and continue their family’s musical tradition.
