About this Event
Violinist LINDA ROSENTHAL has performed throughout North America, Europe and
Asia in recitals, as soloist with orchestras and as a chamber musician. Based in Juneau,
Alaska, Ms. Rosenthal has performed in every corner of the State, from major cities to
logging camps in the panhandle to remote villages in the Arctic. She also tours
extensively throughout the U.S., frequently under the auspices of the New York-based
Piatigorsky Foundation, whose mission is to send its artists to populations that may have
little or no exposure to live classical music.
In 1995, Rosenthal was commissioned by the Kennedy Center to create and
premiere Strings & Stories, a 2-person interactive show for young audiences. She and
Los Angeles actor Bill Blush performed this show annually for thousands of children
across the US. Rosenthal served as Professor of Music at the University of Alaska
Southeast for 25 years. She is Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of the Juneau Jazz
& Classics Music Festival and Founder and Artistic Director of the Northeast Chamber
Music Seminar in Boscawen, NH. Rosenthal has recorded 5 solo CDs and commissioned
and premiered numerous works for solo violin, violin and narrator and Glacier Blue, a
Concerto for Violin and Big Band.
Ms. Rosenthal plays on a violin made in 1772 by J.B. Guadagnini.
