We're thrilled to announce that the legendary lexicographer Susie Dent will be joining us at City Screen Picturehouse, York, on Friday 30th October for a very special evening discussing her latest novel, Death Writ Large.

A mysterious letter. A silenced scholar. A city paved with injustice.

When mysterious symbols begin appearing as graffiti around Oxford, lexicographer Martha Thornhill recognises them as part of a runic alphabet created by a deceased fantasy writer whose papers she once worked on. But this is no publicity stunt, and tensions rise when further graffiti is discovered near the body of a university lecturer.

Martha is not the only one to question the police's assumption that the suspicious death was a suicide. Called upon to lend their linguistic expertise to the investigation, Martha and her colleagues begin to uncover a tragedy that reaches far beyond the ancient walls of the university.

As new messages foretell more deaths, it becomes clear that a spirit of vengeance is stalking the city's streets—and may soon be coming for them, too.

This event will take place in Screen 1 at City Screen Picturehouse, York.

Doors will open at 6.40pm, with the event beginning promptly at 7.00pm.

We recommend arriving from 6.00pm to allow plenty of time to collect your tickets and enjoy a drink at the bar before the event begins.
