Born and raised in the South, Steve Bassett’s professional career began in 1963. His vocalization can range from soft and classical to belting out blues and soul in an instant. His style of playing the Hammond B3 is legendary. He has been featured as lead vocalist on over 100 network jingles and has released 20 albums. His songs have been recorded and released by a number of great rhythm and blues artists. Performing throughout the United States as featured entertainer at special events, he has been appearing lately on the heels of his self published book “SING LOUD: Memoir of a Life in Music”. Steve Bassett’s path as an artist into it’s sixth decade has carried him through the roots of southern rock, soul, gospel, blues, and jazz and his song “Sweet Virginia Breeze”, coauthored with Robbin Thompson, is the official popular state song of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Steve has received the Theresa Pollack Prize for Excellence in the Arts and was inducted into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame.
