UTC-05:00Location
Lincoln High School | Lincoln, NE
In this intimate author lecture and conversation, Cisneros will reflect on her life and work, the power of storytelling, and the urgency of writing with truth and tenderness in turbulent times. With her signature lyricism, wit, and generosity, she invites audiences into a space where literature becomes personal and where small moments carry world-sized meaning.
Whether you’re a longtime reader or discovering her work for the first time, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a literary icon whose words continue to inspire, challenge, and resonate across generations.
Part of the year-long Read, Connect, Celebrate: The House on Mango Project, this FREE event will take place at the Ted Sorensen Auditorium at Lincoln High School on April 9, 2026 at 6:30 PM and hosted by local facilitator Leticia Martinez Meitzen.
The Lied Center is proud to partner with Linked2Literacy, Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln City Libraries, and local cultural organizations to present "Read, Connect, Celebrate: The House on Mango Project," a year-long community-centered initiative inspired by the novel. Designed to celebrate the diversity of Lincoln, NE—particularly the experiences of New Americans—the project weaves together literature, art, and dialogue.
