The Book Stall welcomes two award-winning authors to discuss Philip Stead's new book, "A Potion, a Powder, a Little Bit of Magic!"
About this Event

The Book Stall is thrilled to welcome bestselling author Philip Stead to the store for a discussion with Matthew Cordell featuring his new book, A Potion, a Powder, a Little Bit of Magic: Or, Like Lightning in an Umbrella Storm. Award-winning picture book author and illustrator Philip Stead makes a confident debut as a novelist in this laugh-out-loud, one-of-a-kind illustrated tale about a plucky young goatkeeper who sets out on a misadventurous rescue mission, chock-full of running gags, broken fourth walls, and underdog triumph.

Tickets include a copy of the book. Mr. Stead will be happy to sign his work! This book is perfect for fans of all ages 10 and up.

Philip Stead is the author of the Caldecott Medal-winning book A Sick Day for Amos McGee, also named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book and a Publishers Weekly Best Children’s Book, illustrated by his wife and frequent collaborator, Erin Stead. He is the author and illustrator of The North Wind and the Sun, a Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year. He lives with Erin, their daughter, and their dog in a hundred-year-old barn in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Matthew Cordell is the Caldecott Medal-winning author and illustrator of Wolf in the Snow, Evergreen, Cornbread & Poppy, Wish, and Hello, Neighbor!: The Kind and Caring World of Mister Rogers. He is also the illustrator of highly acclaimed children’s books such as Every Dog in the Neighborhood (by Philip Stead!), Bob, Not Bob!, and Leeva at Last. Matthew lives in suburban Chicago with his wife, author Julie Halpern, and their two children.
