An Evening with Nick Valencia (Night Before the 2026 End Addiction Walk)
In 2025, after 19 years at CNN, Nick launched his own media company, Nick Valencia News (NVN) and gained more than 70 million views in a matter of months. In his new role, Nick bridges the gap between traditional media and new media.
Nick says by the grace of his Higher Power, Nick hasn’t picked up a drink or drug in more than five years, has learned from the program that time takes time, and to pay attention to the God shots in life.
What keeps him coming back is the spirituality of the fellowship, which for him, boils down to being rigorously honest with his sponsor. Nick firmly believes that if God alone were all it took to keep people sober, everyone would be sober. It takes action and willingness – which he practices one day at a time.
Before launching NVN, Nick was a CNN correspondent in Atlanta, front and center for history for 13 years. He has received awards for his civil rights and social justice journalism; earned a national Emmy for coverage of the death of George Floyd; he’s won three Peabody Awards, received two more Emmy nominations, and was named “TV Reporter of the Year” by the Atlanta Press Club in 2020.
