Save the date for an Evening with Imani Perry at Maplewood Memorial Library on Friday, February 27th!
National Book Award winning author Imani Perry will visit Maplewood Library to celebrate Black History Month and deliver a talk on the importance of history in a time of erasure.
Imani Perry’s work reflects the deeply complex history of Black thought, art, and imagination. Says Perry: “If there were one impact I’d like my work to have, it would be that people would cease talking about African American history and culture in terms of deprivation or inadequacy and actually acknowledge its depth and complexity and beauty.”
A book signing will follow the author talk. More details to come!
This event is free and open to the public; no registration necessary. This program is funded in part by the Robert A. & Fay P. Marchman Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Fund through the Maplewood Library Foundation.
