About this Event

We are thrilled to host Elle McNicoll as she celebrates the publication of Unapologetic Love Story – a smart, sassy and romantic novel with an important message at its heart. This debut adult romcom from the author of A Kind of Spark and Role Model focuses on a London It Girl with a hit podcast highlighting autistic women and the journalist determined to uncover her secret. She will be in conversation with author Bea Ingalls.

Elle McNicoll is a bestselling and award-winning novelist and screenwriter whose debut novel A Kind of Spark won the Blue Peter Book Award and the Overall Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, as well as Blackwell’s Book of 2020. She is twice Carnegie nominated, and was shortlisted for the Books Are My Bag Awards 2020, the Branford Boase Award and The Little Rebels Award. A Kind of Spark has also been adapted for Television in partnership with 9Story and BBC Childrens.

Bea Ingalls is an English graduate based in Hertfordshire, UK. She writes contemporary young adult fiction inspired by her love of big, cinematic storytelling. Her debut novel We Used to be Magic is an irresistible dual POV romance sees a rookie model and a broken-hearted stranger find each other amidst the heady whirl of the New York fashion industry. Her next book Your Favourite Fake Girlfriend will be out in May. Aside from writing, you can find her making playlists, working as a bookseller, re-watching BBC’s Pride and Prejudice or spending time with her best friend, Charlie the dog.
