An Evening with Andy Pye - The Artifacts of Summer 2026AD
Join Rebecca Jansma & Andy Pye for a rigorous and intimate exploration of Andy’s latest works.
The Artifacts of Summer 2026AD is an installation that spans the physical and the ephemeral—from the weight of hand-crafted ceramic jugs to the fleeting, grainy light of a Fujifilm S20 digital archive.
In an intentional departure from the polished atmosphere of the Melbourne Art Fair, this session offers a sensory immersion into the artist's process, soundtracked by modern art discourse and served with the sharp hospitality of the Eastern European tradition (Pye serving Russian Vodka and traditional-style snacks).
Building on the success of our previous sold-out Studio Session with Pye, this is an exclusive opportunity to witness the intersection of art, archive and the intense, ‘bloody hot’ 25th summer of Pye’s vocational art practice.
Selected works and studies will be available for acquisition on the evening.
As always with our Studio Sessions, we start with a glass and our generous grazing table, this time inspired by Eastern European flavours and of course Vodka... chatting and meeting new and old friends.
Rebecca will introduce Andy, after which he will briefly explore the Summer of 2025-26 collected works and ambitions; and, in his inimitable breathtaking honesty, discuss his practice - where he is and where it's heading for the year.
The session will finish with questions from the floor, general mingling, grazing and more drinks with informal gathering.
About Andy
‘Andy has a unique visual language in the Australian Art scene, that is one of a kind.’
Dominic Kavanagh, Associate Director Martin Browne Contemporary
‘Immersed in the vibrant life, dynamic sounds, and solitude of the Australian bush, Pye effortlessly captures its unique beauty and terror. In doing so, Pye carries the legacy of the pioneering Modernist painters of the Australian bush, those who gave painterly form to our country, such as Fred Williams, Arthur Boyd and Sidney Nolan.’
Dr. Lee-Anne Hall, Director Wagga Wagga Regional Gallery
