About this Event
Please join PBS SoCal and the Fowler Museum for an evening of exploration of the historical threads that tie Islamic and Latino cultures.
During the event, attendees can learn through activities that engage the senses, including food tastings, demonstrations, and a photo gallery that delves into the connections between these two cultures. Dr. Mariam Saada will deliver the keynote lecture for the evening that presents her research reviving forgotten histories that bridge Latino and Islamic cultures.
Kick off your exploration before the event begins by visiting the Fowler’s exhibits, including the newly opened Sangre de Nopal/Blood of the Nopal – an exhibition of new commissions and existing work from Tanya Aguiñiga & Porfirio Gutiérrez.
