Arancini Productions present their award-nominated blend of comedy sketches, songs and spoken word. Writer-performers Helen Rice and Sarah Carratt bring their offbeat lens to the everyday. Whether it’s trying to find a dentist, stacking the dishwasher or getting competitive at the school gates, enter the world of Balls of Fun and see life from a slightly wonky angle. Combining humour with poignant observation, expect a melting pot of wordplay where the mundane marries with the absurd to produce a show unlike anything else.
Stan Skinny is a treasure of the Sheffield arts scene – whether he's dressed up as an old fisherman and encouraging people to participate in bizarre school fete style games, or as a macho wrestler fetching a small book of earnest poems from within his lycra tights. Eccentricity, DIY props and sincerity are Stan's stock-in-trade. "Stan is talented in more ways than should be allowed' Toolmakers Comedy Club winner of the Steel City Comedy Competition, twice-nominated for best alternative act Yorkshire comedy awards.
John Dyson came late to the art of song writing. In fact lateness has become something of a trade mark of his musical career. His songs are inventive, somewhat eccentric in structure and wistfully engaging. 'Mr Dyson attempts to blend the essence of the American Songbook greats with the romantic decadence of Jacque Brel, the lyrical imagery of David Bowie's later works and the kitsch of Marc Bolan.'. John is currently recording the new album, The Man Whose Shadow Never Touched The Ground, as well as acting and sharing script ideas for various projects with @Helen Rice.
