An Evening of Art Song and Opera promises to be a one of a kind event this fall, featuring two singers in the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, José Mendez, tenor, and Douglas Walter, baritone, in collaboration with the chorus’s Artistic Director, Michael Semancik. With music spanning the Baroque to the Romantic, Douglas and José will offer Italian Art and Neapolitan Songs, German Lieder, French arias and duets.
In a highlight of the evening, José and Douglas will sing the fiery duet between Violetta and Germont in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, a Queer take on the music as only PGMC could offer to Philadelphia audiences with Mr. Mendez taking on the iconic role of the tragic courtesan.
Don’t miss this one of a kind musical offering.
All proceeds from this event will benefit The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus.
