Join us for an unforgettable evening of sweeping musical landscapes, radiant poetry, and timeless American masterworks.Lukas Foss's The Prairie is a bold, cinematic choral tour de force that brings Carl Sandburg's vivid poetry to life. With expansive sound and rhythmic vitality, it captures the grandeur, grit, and boundless hope of the American spirit.
John Corigliano's Fern Hill transforms Dylan Thomas's beloved poem into luminous, soaring music. Both tender and exuberant, this deeply moving work reflects the wonder, innocence, and bittersweet beauty of youth.
Aaron Copland's Quiet City offers a moment of hushed reflection. Beneath an endless American sky, muted trumpet and plaintive English horn rise from stillness, giving voice to longing and the quiet soul of a nation.
This extraordinary program features the combined 150-voice Oratorio Society and University Singers, joined by orchestra and a distinguished quartet of soloists: soprano Maddie Holtze, mezzo-soprano Kristina Rodel Sorum, tenor Scott Brunscheen and baritone Philip Zawisza. The concert is led by Artistic Director Matthew Mehaffey along with conductors Brandon Berger and Paolo Debuque.
