Welcome (or welcome back) to An Alternative Perspective!
We look forward to bringing you another evening of networking and insightful talks, as we discuss the benefits of diversity of thought in the workplace and across society.
You will have the opportunity to network in large or small quieter groups.
Afterwards, we will hear from our speakers who will be sharing their experiences and insights.
Joining us will be:
Jamie Johnston - Jamie is a consumer technology entrepreneur with 13+ years of experience in the digital technology and marketing industries. He is a neurodivergent and dating expert and is passionate about improving mental health and reducing loneliness in young people, helping them create authentic and stronger connections. Jamie and Mattr have been featured in BBC, Evening Standard, The Independent, Metro, London Live and LBC to name a few.
Sanjay Kumarendran - Sanjay is a first-class psychology graduate, autism researcher and activist whose work aims to uplift the neurodivergent community and investigate important research questions which reflect their needs and priorities. While studying their undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Bath, Sanjay established strong professional relationships with fellow autism researchers, leading to him co-authoring articles in journals such as Cortex and Clinical Psychology Review. He is now continuing to pursue new opportunities to expand the research literature surrounding autism - and the challenges autistic individuals can face.
Ina Leah – Ina Leah – An artist and musician from Indonesia, recently graduated from MFA Arts and Humanities Master’s degree, The Royal College of Art. Ina Leah has a background in psychology and has spent her career advocating about art for wellbeing as well as neuroinclusion. She is currently developing therapeutic art methods inspired by participatory art practices in her culture.
Peter Downey – An Insurance Administrator at Sutton Council. Peter believes that life as an autistic person is nuanced and is keen to highlight this, as he discusses his journey to finding employment and the impact autism has on him, including in his professional life.
Joining us virtually will be:
Elena Carroll – Elena is a Youtuber and content creator from New Zealand who is based in Canada. After receiving a late autism diagnosis at the age of 25, Elena has used her platform to highlight how autism can present in females, drawing upon her own experiences to educate and offer her tips to her followers on a variety of topics from travel to finding employment as a neurodivergent person.
