About this Event
Come enjoy a spring afternoon with STHS for a tour of the Solebury House and a look at its history and the history of the village. The Solebury House (c. 1790) stands as a testament to the layered history of Bucks County—an early homestead that grew over generations into a the center of the Solebury community as a general store, a tack shop, and today, the village post office. Its architectural story unfolds through successive additions: a substantial stone expansion in the 1870s, a clapboard extension in 1882, and the Victorian details that still shape its character.
Owners Liz and Dan Jones’ thoughtful renovation honors this rich past while adapting the home for modern living. This three year renovation encompassed all aspects of the property. The clapboard addition from 1882 was reconstructed and expanded maintaining its original style. Major moderization efforts included new slate and copper roofing, infrastructure systems, windows, rebuilt studio extension, reconstructed fire places and extensive repointing of stone exteriors to capture its historical charm of old Pennsylvania stone homes.
Learn about the early history of Centre Hill as this Solebury Village was originally called in the 1800's. Refreshments and cocktail hour with live music will add to the wonderful afternoon. Proceeds from this event will continue to help STHS educate and preserve our history in Solebury. Tickets: STHS Members $80, Non-Members $90.
