AMSTERDAM SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT

DOUBLE BILL SCREENINGS + Q&A + FLAMENCO LIVE PERFORMANCE

You are invited to the OPENING NIGHT of the AMSTERDAM SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL! Join us on April 4th at Pathé Tuchinski. 

We’re kicking off this year’s edition with a special double bill screening followed by exclusive Q&As and an electrifying live flamenco performance.

First we will screen “Segundo premio” (Saturn Return) brought to you in collaboration with TourSpain and TourGranada. This is a hypnotic rock drama inspired by ’90s band Los Planetas. Following a struggling Granada indie group on the verge of collapse the film weaves together music passion and self-destruction—until a shot at recording in New York changes everything. 

After the film the actor and musician Cristalino will attend a Q&A with the audience.

Next we will screen “La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés” the directorial debut of acclaimed musician Antón Álvarez (C. Tangana). In this documentary we follow talented guitarist Yerai Cortés as he unveils a family secret and aims to heal the open wounds through his music. Cortés’ music blends traditional flamenco with avant-garde influences – and this combination is also present in the film through a mixture of narrative interviews and music performances.

Afterwards you will have the chance to listen live to Yerai Cortés and La Tania singer and co-protagonist of the documentary. They will attend a Q&A with the audience and perform their song ‘Los Almendros’ winner of the Best Song Goya Award.

Spanish drinks and tapas will be served before each of the screenings.

20:30 - Doors open. Spanish drinks and tapas will be served.

21:15 - Screening of La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés + Q&A and performance with Yerai Cortés and La Tania
