Welcome to Amsterdam or Bust. Thank you so much for taking an interest in this very silly idea to raise money for a great charity!
We aim to have fun, raise money for Dementia UK, and perhaps promote your business too!, as we intend to get the local press involved, and you could personally too.

The plan is very simple.
Buy a car, for a maximum budget of £1000, drive to Wynand Fockink Proeflokaal and Spirits (the oldest Gin store in Amsterdam, and possibly the best named store ever!), have fun, then drive home.
The weirder, wackier or just completely random the car, the better.
We set off on the 5th September from Norwich City. From there, you're on your own. Ferry across the channel and a blast to Focknik! The first person to take a selfie outside the store is the winner and becomes the receiver of the cheapest most plastic prize we can find (remember, the money is going to charity first!)
We will then have a cool gathering on a boat on the night of the 5th. Saturday the 6th will be a free day to mooch around, then a return trip on the 7th.

We will obviously fill you in with more specific details soon, but this should at least give you a flavour of what to expect.
For those that haven't done anything like this before, you can get sponsors to fund your trip (get their names stickered on your cars) whilst still raising money for the charity direct, or you can self-fund this trip.

Now....we must take some time for the following important points.
This is not a race! It will never be a race. It's a good spirited fun drive in rubbish cars to raise money.
We ask for £100 non refundable deposit per person. This is only to cover the cost of the gathering for food and drinks on a boat on the first night.
Your vehicle must be roadworthy and legal.
We suggest a minimum of £500 raised per car for charity. This could be done through setting up your own just giving page, donating it yourself, or selling your car upon your return and giving some/all of the sale to the charity. Whatever works best for you. All we want to do is to raise as much as we can for Dementia UK.
You will be responsible for your own accommodation (we will suggest some places to try and keep us a close group)
If you break down on the way, tough. Please ensure you have breakdown cover, or if you're minted, your own mobile pit crew!
Your £1k car budget can be split any way you see fit. You could buy a working car for £1k for example, or buy a rough one for £500 and spend £500 getting it ready. The max spend is £1k (and no tricky receipts from a mate who appears to have sold you a 911 for £1k!)
The organisers will not be responsible for anything. We are simply doing this to raise funds and hope that you will be interested in taking part. We have no budget for group insurance or public liability, for example. Please do respect this and be responsible for yourselves.
All local laws must be adhered to.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to raise money and have fun. If you get caught by the local law, we will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Good luck.
