Join Alabama State Park and the JSU Field School staff to get to know Desoto State Park after dark!
As the sun sets, the forest comes alive! Come along on a guided night hike to listen for calling frogs, search for salamanders, and discover the secret lives of amphibians after dark. Learn how these fascinating animals survive, why they’re important to our ecosystems, and how you can help protect them.
Join us for a special Bio-Blitz! Help us document the frogs and salamanders found in the park with a weekend of activities. We will be exploring the park with scientists, naturalists, students, and professors and the public is encouraged to join us. We will be on the cabin road & go to the frog pond, near DeSoto’s South entrance. All ages welcome; children must be supervised. This will be a light hike from DeSoto State Park Lodge on uneven terrain.
