Leading scholars in American Jewish studies explore the field’s future opportunities and challenges.
About this Event

What does American Jewish history look like on the 250th birthday of the United States? The history of Jews in North America predates the birth of the country, yet the academic field of study is relatively new. "America's Jewish Questions at 250 Years" interrogates the foundational questions that have defined American Jewish history, while asking how the field is changing amid today's roiling debates about liberalism, democracy, pluralism, and so much more.
Featuring Lila Corwin Berman (New York University), Deborah Dash Moore (University of Michigan), and Beth S. Wenger (University of Pennsylvania). Moderated by Emily Tamkin.

About the Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Lecture series

Established in 1996, the annual Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Lecture honors the memory of Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff, parents of Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz, wife of Herbert D. Katz, and important philanthropists who supported numerous and enduring civic and Jewish causes. The series brings to Penn preeminent scholars for a campus talk meant to enrich the experience of Katz Center fellows and open up the fellowship theme to the broader university community.
Free and open to the public.
Registration is required. Non–PennCard-holders will be asked to show ID to register at the door, space permitting.
