As part of the upcoming Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, we are offering an "America 250 Genealogy" series to help you uncover your family's history. The series can be taken as a whole, or in individual sections. We will focus on different aspects of genealogy research and provide workshops where you can visit the museum to get help when and where needed. This series is in partnership with the Dakota County Historical Society, the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The DAR, Daughters of American Revolution, lineage society has a wonderful database called the GRS (Genealogical Research System). Many of these records can be accessed by non-members for use in their family research. Sarah Martin is here to explain what kinds of questions can be answered with this rich, well-organized resource. We’ll solve some sample problems in class together.
Sarah Martin completed applications for dozens of women for membership in DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) and grew the chapter significantly. She served as Registrar for Lake Minnetonka Chapter, National Society of Daughters of American Revolution (NSDAR) in 2021-2025. Sarah is a past board member of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Irish Genealogical Society International. She is secretary/treasurer of the St Paul-based Irish theater group, Out of the Mist Celtic Theater. Sarah taught piano for 30 years; she plays violin, does yoga, and enjoys hiking and reading. Sarah lives in Richfield.
